2023: The Teac/Tascam Mother Lode arrives.
This delivery was months in the works. And the other day it
happened - a tractor-trailer rolls up to my house.
The trucker opens the lift gate, and rolls out a pallet stacked
high with cases: a Teac 2340, several 3340s and 3440s, and a
Tascam 34B.
JUST, WOW.
Thankfully, the trucker rolled the pallet all the way into my
garage.
I was ready with empty shelving and pulled everything out of their
cases, to conserve studio (uh, garage) space.
For now at least, the cases went into the attic (not quite sure
what'll become of them).
As is typical with tape decks of this vintage, they are all in
need of a little TLC - mostly belts and lubrication of moving
parts under the hood.
But generally they look fine. There may be one or two with
bent spindles - it's possible that ebay will have the answer for
those.
All of these were all being used regularly on shows - until they
weren't needed any longer, and found their way to a quiet corner
of the warehouse - until now.
I expect to become proficient in restoring these things!
